Teachers at our Academy are selected because of special qualities, talents, and skills needed to create a well-balanced administrative, teaching, and support staff. Each member is part of the total staff, and all are dependent upon one another. Although specific responsibilities vary, all are charged with the responsibility of working together in a united manner for the best interests of the children and their families. The goal is to achieve harmony with respect, tolerance, patience, honesty, trust, and friendship. Our instructional goals include age-appropriate experiences in Bible, language arts, math, science, social studies, art, music, and physical education. To enhance a child’s learning experience, we encourage parent participation as well as utilizing the community resources and sponsor field trips.

We are committed to providing a high-quality program. We require that our staff stays current with the trends and best-practices in Early Childhood Education.  Teachers are required by the State of Maryland to complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education each year.  Our teachers at PVA exceed this requirement. The Academy encourages our staff to grow and develop professionally by making quality training available and relevant to the needs of the staff and the center.

As required by MSDE Office of Childcare, all staff members have completed Basic First Aid training and Pediatric Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) during the first year of employment with our center.

Many of our PVA Daycare and Preschool staff participate in MSDE’s Credentialing program. Potomac Valley Academy Daycare & Preschool participates in the Maryland EXCELS quality assurance program.
